About 2 Can Do
Our Story
We live on San Juan Island year round. Jesi has called it home for ten years. Danny spent a decade visiting before he moved here for good four years ago. In that time, we kept seeing the same thing happen: people who love their island homes but can’t always be here, come back to water damage, out-of-control landscaping, fallen logs — nobody caught it. We saw owners who weren’t able to be on island to deal with contractors, schedules, and project management.
So we started 2 Can Do to be the people who show up. We keep an eye on your property, take care of what comes up, and when something needs doing, we hire the right people and stay on it until it’s done right. You won’t get taken advantage of, and you won’t come back to a half-finished deck or a leaky roof.
About the Name
On a trip to Portugal, we met an old Englishman who called himself John Can Do, living in a small, remote village atop a mountain. He was charming, funny, and a bit of a mystery. He showed us a cave he owned that dated back to the Paleolithic era, and told us stories about his life in the ’60s. We were inspired by his stories, his kindness, his energy, and his appreciation for the simple things in life. We decided to honor him by naming our business 2 Can Do, because we realized that the two of us can do anything we put our passions to.
What We Each Bring
Danny handles the big pieces: permits, contractors, the heavy physical work, and client communication. He’s a licensed, bonded, and insured contractor, and he’s built and run three businesses before this one, so following through is second nature.
Jesi brings the eye. She’s a painter and designer with a background in gardening and interiors. She’s the one who helps decide where the new plantings go or what color the deck should be, and she catches the small things on a walkthrough.
Why Local Matters
Island life has its own rules. We know who to call, how long things really take to get here and get done, what the weather will throw at your house, and what a job should cost. That knowledge is what keeps a small problem from becoming an expensive one.
What That Looks Like
After one big storm, we found a broken tree leaning toward a client’s roof. We check properties daily around storms, so we caught it before it came down. We took the tree down safely, cut it up, and gave the wood to a local family for winter firewood. The house was fine, and nothing went to waste.
Off the Clock
Danny writes, Jesi paints, and we play music together. When we can get away, you’ll find us somewhere traveling abroad or adventuring in the Cascades in our truck camper.
